Pliant deux lames par Anso

Around 8 pm I started working on the design on the computer...I had a rough sketch to go from and did the final design and tweak in the computer.….printed a handfull blueprints and went to the shop around 10.30 ….

Since this is a new model and I plan on making more I wanted to start by making a set of templates....I use 1/8 thick iron...just the regular soft stuff used in bodyshops....paint with layout blue and cut the blueprnts out and attach with spray adhesive....cut all the outlines with a knife and centerpunch and drill the needed holes.…





went to the bandsaw and roughed out the parts.….THEN it was time for some grinding...at this hour ..(around 11.30 pm) it was time for some ACDC on high volume.….rock on...!! helps keeping me awake in front of the wheel

after some quick grinding I deburred the templates and they are now ready for tommorows work....finally a lineup of some materials.….130" titanium for the integral bolsters.…..050" titanium for the inside liners for the lock(s) ...some Stellite and fianlly some mammoth ivory for scales...and thats it for today...it´s 00.40 am and I get up in less than 6 hours




okay.….been at it for a couple hours now.….so far the liners has been roughed out and a few holes drilled...then I had a small panic attack....would the blades interfer with the pivots of the other blade so I am back at the computer for a few mins just to check....phew...no problem there...

I started out by tracing the handle pattern onto the titanium with a sharpie....centerpunched one of the pivotholes ( I allways use the pivothole as a guide to build the rest of the knife....everything centers around the pivotpin...), bandsawed out the 4 pieces and deburred them on my diskgrinder.






now I drilled and reamed one pivothole on each of the framepart. I allways drill my pivotholes on my millingmachine to ensure everything is straight...no crooked holes on my folders...! been through that is it SUX!...marked each part with a number so I can see what end goes where and in what order to avoid any confusion. The I placed the template over each part with the pivot as indexpoint and spotdrilled all the screw holes, stoppinholes and the last pivothole. Finally I put all the parts together by placing the 2 pivotpins through each part.

Moving on to the grinder....grinding the frameparts on slow speed with a 60 grit belt....the sandwich is .360" thick titanium 6Al4V …..takes some pushing to get the material moving...




Now it is time to get to work on the blades.….I drill and ream the pivotholes using carbide tools, place the first template on the bladematerial and scribe the outline. Then I place the second template on the material and align with the scribed line. The second template is used as a drillguide for stoppin placement in closed and open position.

Moon, tu n'avais pas parlé de petit prob's de finition niveau lock ? c'est résolu ?

à part un pliant (un gekko), tous les framelock que j'ai eu de lui (2 rebels) collaient au talon de la lame.
Sinon ceux que j'ai pu voir par la suite au sicac ou ailleurs étaient impeccables.
