The back pin-Spacer pin - is full tight at all time's.
The middle pin -stop pin -can be tightened or loosened to adjust the lock bar through and rotated to adjust the blade stop should it ever be needed.
The front pin- pivot pin - will adjust the tension on the blade and remove the back and forth movement.
Their are 2 brass spacers 10,000 of an inch on either side of he blade. They will over time wear smooth and seat in the power coating
To oil these spacers close the knife and turn it up so that you are looking down on the pivot. Their is a small slot put a drop of oil on either side of it to wash out the spacers.
The ball is a detent, it puts tension on the blade when closed so it want open in your pocket. Most all folders have them you just can't se them because thy are covered up and installed from the inside.
You can adjust the ball so that its easier to open or tighter in this way :
Open the knife 1/2 way and with a piece of wood dowel up against the ball tap it with a hammer to loosen. To tighten close it all the way and with cupped center punch tap it until it hits bottom.
It takes a special 2 ton press to put the ball in place. You will notice a small slit at the hole the ball fits into. This makes it a spring to open ever so much and allow the ball to fit in.
The knife was designed to be thrown in the mud and still work.
About sharpening :
Try to strop it like an old time straight razor across medium grit stone. Ounce you are used to this method it works every time.
Hope this has been of some help.
